Separate discovery, comparison and purchase
Suppose a shopper asks for ‘waterproof running shoes under 150 EUR size 44’. The assistant needs to find suitable shoes, check that size 44 is available within the budget, and then offer a way to buy. Completing the purchase needs a supported checkout and the shopper’s approval.
These steps don’t always come together. An assistant might find your product in web search but be unable to buy it. Your API might answer product questions without being part of an assistant’s shopping index. Check what your chosen integration actually supports.
Make the product details clear
A visually attractive product page may still be ambiguous to an agent. ‘From 129 EUR’ does not prove size 44 costs 129 EUR. A stock badge at product level does not prove every variant is available. A waterproof-sounding title is not a verified material attribute.
Make variant identifiers, prices, currency, availability and options explicit. Provide policies and a canonical product URL. Keep unknown attributes distinguishable from false values so an agent can explain gaps instead of guessing.
How agents connect to a store
MCP exposes tools to compatible clients. ACP defines a commerce checkout interaction. REST APIs expose structured operations to custom integrations, and structured product pages support browsing clients. None alone guarantees that every assistant will connect to a brand.
Siroua offers these access paths over a shared catalog. Its search applies exact price, size and stock constraints before ranking, then returns small cards followed by full product details when requested. Checkout, where configured, uses the brand’s own Stripe account.
Try it with real shopper questions
Pick one client and a few questions your customers might ask. Test matches, but also a missing size, sold-out stock, a price change and an unknown attribute. Decide what you’re measuring: a useful answer, a visit to your store or a completed API payment.
- Audit feed completeness before optimizing descriptions for AI.
- Choose the purchase path and decide who handles orders and fulfillment.
- Review client permissions and customer approval before enabling payment.
- Measure result quality and confirmed outcomes separately from mentions or visits.
What agentic commerce does not promise
A feed, Schema.org markup or an MCP server won’t guarantee recommendations. Each platform has its own rules, and the assistant’s answer depends on the shopper’s question and the information it can read.
Start with what you can check: the right variant, a price inside the budget, current stock and a checkout that matches what the shopper agreed to.
